Don’t Look Down
A Story of Evolution
Wind Storm
Posted on 3/9/08 at 04:37 pmI Feel: relieved
So, its 8 o' clock at night. I'm home alone, minding my own business, pourin' myself a cup of coffee.
The wind is blowing pretty hard outside. The frames of the windows start crackling.
Then the wind suddenly stops and its dead silent.
...Now its pitch black. The power is out.
The wind knocked down a tree in front of my house, which then fell on the electrical wires, ripped the telephone pole down to the ground, and obviously cut the power. The whole neighborhood is dark.
So I'm standing in the the kitchen, in the dark, with a half-fixed cup of coffee.
Great.
The police, fire department, George W Bush and anybody you can possibly think of is now parked outside.
My parents come home. I'm sitting in the living room with a cold cup of coffee and vanilla scented candles...
There's no TV, internet, telephone, lights, stereo. Nothing except forced family interaction.
My stomach was killing me. I wanted so much to get rid of the feeling. I wanted to so bad but I thought of what was said to me...and I knew I couldn't do it. The thought of hearing them ask me to please stop gets me passed the temptation.
I got through it...
