Don’t Look Down

We're in the car. My mother and I somehow get in to the topic we've all been having LJ wars on... 
We're having a small debate...

Mom: I read this article where the doctors said they've discovered the cell people are missing that determines whether they're gay or not. They're working on a vaccination to fix it.
Me: So...what? Being gay is a freakin' disease?
Mom: I'm just saying that they're making something to cure it. They're debating if it should be allowed...
Me: No. All that's going to do is give people more of a reason to view being gay as wrong...
Mom: If you had a kid and the doctor walked in and said "Your child is missing a cell and will grow up to be gay." and they could change that, wouldn't you let them give your kid the vaccination?
Me: No. That's not natural at all. Its just altering who they were born to be. That's like, sci-fi scary. Like, freakin' Stepford Wives or something..
Mom: So, if your child was gay, you wouldn't do anything?
Me: No. I would hate for them to deal with it...but if its who they are, I'm not the person that should decide to change that. Like, its not my life. When they figure it out, they can decide if they want to change or not. I wouldn't do anything about it.
Mom: Oh, come on. Everyone would. Nobody wants their kid to be gay.
